This GUIDE is designed to assist you in teaching students about the Security Awareness For Educators (SAFE) intruder/active shooter defense concepts and drills. No training or GUIDE can cover every possible scenario; the overarching goal is that you understand the strategies. Implement this training in an age appropriate manner!What are some of the things the school does to help keep you safe? INTRUDER DRILLTEACHER SCRIPTSCHOOLS ARE SAFE ACCEPTABLE EXAMPLES: Locking doors, fire alarms, fire drills, severe weather drills, emergency plans, etc. TEACHER S RESPONSE: Explain the school has an emergency plan to help prevent and respond to all emergencies. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Students need to follow the teacher s instructions. What is an intruder? BAD PEOPLE EXIST AND WE HAVE PLANS TO HELP PROTECT YOUACCEPTABLE EXAMPLES: A bad person, someone who is not welcome, an angry person, an active shooter, etc.
