The Department of Education has developed and published Subject Assessment Guidelines for all 29 subjects of the national Curriculum Statement (NCS). These Assessment Guidelines should be read in conjunction with the relevant Subject Statements and Learning Programme Guidelines. Writing Teams established from nominees of the nine provincial education departments and the teacher unions formulated the Subject Assessment Guidelines. The draft copies of the Subject Assessment Guidelines developed by the Writing Teams were sent to a wide range of readers, whose advice and suggestions were considered in refining these Guidelines.
This document provides guidelines for assessment in the National Curriculum Statement Grades 10 - 12 (General). The guidelines must be read in conjunction with The National Senior Certificate: A Qualification at Level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework
