Linking Multi-Agency Meet the Tactical …
With more than 10 years of proven experience in the APCO Project 25 (P25) public safety arena and a heritage of developing software-defined radios. Thales has been producing mission-critical multiband radios for decades. We are leveraging that expertise to meet the interoperability challenges of the first responder community. Currently, public safety agencies communicate over four different frequency bands and various operating modes. This has caused interoperability issues during major events, such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and even the Super Bowl. In order to communicate, personnel have to carry multiple radios depending on what agency they need to work with. To help meet these interoperability challenges, Thales Communications has developed the LibertyTM Multiband Land Mobile Radio (LMR). The Liberty radio is the first multiband LMR for government agencies and first responders and the first radio that provides coverage across all four primary public safety frequency bands (136-174 MHz, 380-520 MHz, 700 MHz, and 800 MHz).
