This article examines Luke-Acts for themes that may contributeto that GOD AS BENEVOLENT CREATORThe fundamental biblical theme of Creation offers a suitable place to begin. Both Lukeand acts underscore the witness to God as the creator and preserver of all Creation . Twice inprayers God is addressed as such: luke 10:21, Father, Lord of heaven and earth ; acts 4:24, Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and everything in them. Mostsignificant are Jesus appeals to trust in a benevolent God. In the sayings on anxiety, we catch aglimpse into Jesus knowledge of and delight in the created order ( luke 12:22-31 || Matt6:25-34).

Spirit-empowered (Luke 4:1, 14, 18; Acts 1:2). Luke in particular puts the stamp of the Spirit upon Jesus’ mission with his programmatic inauguration at Nazareth (4:16-31).
