Machine Safety Guidelines Introduction Workers and students working in Machine shops, or using machines and power tools in other areas, are faced with a potential risk of injury from a number of hazards. These risks can be reduced by ensuring that both the employees and the students know the safe operating procedures. Only persons trained and knowledgeable in the use of specific equipment shall be allowed to use that equipment and all work must be performed in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. Applicable regulatory requirements include, but are not limited to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments (Reg. 851) and other applicable standards and Guidelines ( CSA Standard Z432-04 (R2009).
