IS 2266: 2002 Steel Wire ropes for General Engineering Purposes – Specification specifies steel wire ropes for use in cranes, excavators and other general engineering purposes. The tensile designated are 1570,1770 and 1960 . The type of ropes shall be round, oval and flattened. The oval type is restricted to sizes from 8 to 40 mm.
