What Parents Should Know About Measures of Academic Progress 2016-2017. Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). Plano ISD uses multiple tests to measure each student's knowledge and skills and to measure student growth over time. The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is a computer adaptive assessment that Measures growth over time in the general domains of mathematics, reading, language usage, and science. Interpreting MAP Scores MAP test performance is described by a number called a RIT score which has a range from 95 300. The scores are not specific to a grade level but are continuous making it possible to use RIT scores to follow a student's educational growth from year to year. The relationship between the MAP assessment and the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) has been analyzed by the Assessment Department. A student's MAP score is associated with the probability of meeting the Level II, Satisfactory Standard on STAAR.
