Often serving as the entrance into the healthcare system, PCP offices can play a large role in alleviating surge on the hospital emergency department (ED). However, there seem to be gaps in communication between PCPs and public health, hospitals, and emergency management with regards to community pandemic influenza planning. Furthermore, many PCP offices lack their own internal pandemic plans.
