1 Medicines for HumanUse: POM, P, GSL & General PharmacyRegulations General Legal RequirementsA guide for pharmacists in Northern Ireland2010 Edition1 Medicines FOR Human USEC lasses of medicinal productsThose medicinal products that, in the opinion of the appropriate Ministers, can,with reasonable safety, be sold or supplied otherwise than by or under thesupervision of a pharmacist are known as General Sale List (GSL) Medicines andare listed in the General Sale List Order or are so classified in their medicinal products that may be sold or supplied only from pharmacies inaccordance with a prescription given by a practitioner are specified in thePrescription Only Order or are so classified in their marketing authorisation. Anymedicinal product that is not a Prescription Only Medicine or a General Sale Listmedicine is a pharmacy are, therefore, three classes of products under the Medicines Act 1968,namely:(1) General Sale List Medicines (GSL).
