Support (CB MHPSS) Operational Guidelines were developed in a collaborative process with UNICEF New York headquarters Lebanon: Isabelle Castrogiovanni, Laurent Chapuis, Jesus Far, and UNICEF field office staff. Guidance and review were Anthony MacDonald, Yuko Osawa and Marta Passerini provided by members of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group for MHPSS in Emergencies, in particular Nepal: Prakash Acharya, Radha Gurung, Patricia Landinez, the Community Based Psychosocial Support Programmes Upama Malia and Nisith Kumar Shrivastawa sub-group.
Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) is a critical component of the United Nations Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health for 2016-2030. It is also a fundamental part of UNICEF’s Core Commitments for Children (CCC) in Humanitarian Action, released in 1998 and revised in 2010.
