According to the federal Energy Information Administration (EIA), dry NATURAL gas shipments increased from 1 trillion ft3 in 2000 to 5 trillion ft3 in 2010, and production increased by a factor of 12 in one decade s time. EIA predicts that by 2035, shale gas will account for nearly half of all gas production (see Figure 1).
