navy TRAINING SYSTEM PLANFOR THEF-14A, F-14B, AND F-14D AIRCRAFTN88-NTSP-A-50-8511C/AFEBRUARY 2001N88-NTSP-A-50-8511C/AFebruary 2001F-14A, F-14B, AND F-14D AIRCRAFTiEXECUTIVE SUMMARYThe F-14A, F-14B, and F-14D Tomcat Aircraft are long range, multi-shot, all weather,strike-fighter aircraft suitable for carrier or shore-based operations. The F-14 Aircraft missionwas expanded to include delivery of conventional air-to-ground ordnance and precision guidedmunitions. The F-14B is either a remanufactured F-14A or new production aircraft equipped withF110-GE-400 engines. The F-14D is either a remanufactured F-14A or new production aircraftequipped with F110-GE-400 engines, new radar, and new avionics systems. Initial OperationalCapability for the F-14D Aircraft was achieved in Fiscal Year (FY) 92. An upgrade program wasimplemented for the F-14B Aircraft to extend the service life of the airframe and incorporateavionics changes to improve offensive and defensive capabilities.
