It is called the Rosetta Stone, and in 1799, it was discovered in the village of Rosetta in Egypt. Now, the stone is on display at the British Museum in London, and it is one of the most popular exhibits there. Why is it so special? The stone's surface has three kinds of ancient writing on it. There are Egyptian hieroglyphs at the top. In the middle, there is demotic Egyptian writing, and ancient Greek writing is at the bottom.
