OBJECTIVE After participating in this pre- Lesson : students will be prepared to see and discuss the machines at the National Museum of Industrial History students will understand what America was like prior to the Industrial Revolution students will learn about the impact of steam power on the way people lived and worked students will be introduced to America s debut on the World Stage THEME Industrialization INITIATIVE At NMIH we strive to use an interdisciplinary approach to educate our visitors the general public and school groups alike about our city s unique history, the region s industrial heritage, and the far-reaching impact of the local innovations, entrepreneurs, and workers. The following RESOURCES, MATERIAL LIST, ENRICHMENT SECTION, and DISCUSSION GUIDE can be used in any combination to meet the needs of the students and subject being taught in the classroom.
