JAMAICA No. I~ -2011 I assent, [ ] ~~) p (_ ruCc", Governor-General AN ACT to Amend the Constitution of Jamaica to provide for a Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms and for connected matters. WHEREAS a Constitutional Commission established by Parliament recommended, after wide public consultation and due deliberation, that Chapter III of the Constitution of Jamaica should be replaced by a new Chapter which provides more comprehensive and effective protection for the fundamental rights and freedoms of all persons in Jamaica: AND WHEREAS the recommendations of the Constitutional Commission were endorsed by a Joint Select Committee of Parliament and by resolutions of the House of Representatives and of the Senate: 2 Short title and construction.
Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms (Constitutional Amendment) Act, 2011. (8) The execution of a sentence of death imposed after the commencement of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms (Constitutional Amendment) Act, 2011, on any person for an offence against the law of Jamaica, shall not be held to be
