NOMEX Type 414 is designed for applicationsrequiring a strong, yet flexible andconformable SHEET . It is electrically andthermally similar to NOMEX Type 410, but is calendered under different conditions toprovide its unique properties. NOMEX Type414 is produced in five thicknesses ( to mm) ( to 15 mil), with a density to NOMEX Type 414 was designedfor use as slot insulation in hand-woundmotors and for linear wrapping of wire, but is also used in other applications where itsspecific characteristics are desirable, such asfolded or punched parts. Another example isits use as SHEET insulation in fluid-filled transformer applications due to its improvedimpregnability versus NOMEX Type note:The properties in this data SHEET aretypical, or average values and shouldnot be used as specification otherwise noted, all propertieswere measured in air under standard conditions (in equilibrium at 23 C, 50%relative humidity). Note that, like otherproducts of papermaking technology, NOMEX papers have somewhatdifferent properties in the papermakingmachine direction (MD) compared to the cross direction (XD).
