NUTNOTES2013-14 Education,The Lawand NotesEducation, the Law and YouTeachers work within a legal framework which gives rights to and places duties onthose within the education service. The Revised professional standards for educationpractitioners have applied to Teachers in Wales since September 2011 and the Teachers Standards have applied to Teachers in England since September 2012. In accordance with these standards, Teachers are required to maintain up-to-dateknowledge and understanding of and to act within the statutory frameworks whichset out their professional duties and NUT Notesprovide information on the legal framework for Teachers beginningtheir careers. NUT members who believe that they need legal advice should contacttheir NUT regional office in England or NUT Cymru in Wales.
