Opinion ON preparations FOR THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE UK FROM THE EU 1 EBA/Op/2018/05 25 June 2018 Opinion of the European Banking Authority on preparations for the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union Introduction and legal basis 1. The European Banking Authority s (EBA s) competence to deliver an Opinion to competent authorities is based on Article 29(1)(a) of Regulation (EU) No 1093/20101 (the EBA Regulation). Article 29(1)(a) mandates the EBA to play an active role in building a common Union supervisory culture and consistent supervisory practices and approaches throughout the Union including by providing opinions to competent authorities. 2. In accordance with Article 14(5) on the Rules of Procedure of the Board of Supervisors2, the Board of Supervisors has adopted this Opinion . 3. This Opinion is addressed to competent authorities as defined in point (2) of Article 4(2) of the EBA Regulation, including the European Central Bank with regard to matters relating to the tasks conferred on it by Regulation (EU) No 1024/2013 and the Single Resolution Board, established by Regulation (EU) No 806/2014.
