This Coverage Policy addresses orthotic devices. Orthotic devices are defined as orthopedic appliances used to support, align, prevent or correct deformities. Static orthoses are rigid and are used to support weakened or paralyzed body parts in a particular position. Dynamic orthoses are used to facilitate body motion to allow optimal function.
