Some systemsoperate on a name search (augmented by date of birth, race and other non-unique identifiers), while inothers (in particular, Criminal history records) identification is supported by fingerprints. The statesand the Federal government also maintain separate DNA identification databases. Finally, there aredatabases of non-personally identifiable Information , such as stolen property or ballistics data.
