PHARMACEUTICAL FORM CREAM - a homogeneous, smooth, white to nearly white mass of creamy consistency, containing 1 mg oestriol per 1 g CREAM . OVESTIN CREAM is filled in collapsi ble aluminium tubes. The tubes are provi ded with a polyethylene screw cap. The CE-marked applic ator consi sts of a styrene acr ylonitril barrel and a polyethylene plunger. Each tube is packed, together with an applic ator in a cardboard box. 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS Therapeutic indications Atrophy of the lower urogenital tract related to oestrogen deficiency, notably: for the treatment of vaginal complaints such as dyspareunia, dryness and itching.
One epidemiological study has shown that long-term treatment with low doses of oral oestriol, but not vaginal oestriol, may increase the risk for endometrial cancer.
