Found on components of a range of British military stores (including firearms) made during the Second World War, this indicates a company operating in the Midlands (of Britain). The numbers identified the individual companies. Among the many examples associated with small-arms are M 1 , Accles & Pollock; M 8 , Anstey M 13 , the Austin Motor Co.
