21 Partitioning SystemsDeflection headWhen partitions are erected to span the full height between floors, structural slabs or beams, accommodation for movement may be needed. The deflection heads shown will allow for movement up to 15mm and protect the partition from damage. These details have been both tested for fire resistance to BS 476 part 20 & 22 section 5. Fix plasterboard, allowing for a 15mm deflection at the partition head; do not screw fix the plasterboard to the studs or track above the Partition Brace.* Above 15mm please refer to local heads can lose up to 4dB on acoustic performance, please contact local branch for Services - Acoustic InsulationTo ensure they do not lie back to back, electrical sockets should be offset.
