PORTFOLIO QUALITY Portfolio quality is a crucial area of analysis, since the largest source of risk for any financial institution resides in its loan portfolio. The loan portfolio is by far an MFI’s largest asset and, in addition, the quality of that asset and therefore, the risk it poses for the institution can be quite difficult to measure.
