158 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE GENERAL OVERVIEW The Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility represents a complex system of equipment , piping, valves, instrumentation and electrical systems with many moving mechanical parts. Periodically, components of this equipment will fail and require repair or replacement. The rate and frequency of such failures can be minimized by establishing a PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE program at the facility. Data from well-maintained treatment plants shows that the costs and efforts of such a program will pay dividends to the City in the long run by extending the useful life of the treatment plant.
