The flip side of this development is dramatic conflicts with people as a result of attacks on livestock by the animals. This not only makes some sections of the rural population feel unsafe and threatened, it can also cause significant economic damage to livestock farmers. The seriousness of the situation can be seen particularly in the high number of livestock kills, which now far exceeds the food requirements of wolves. And many farmers and livestock owners are horrified by the harrowing sight of the animals killed. In order to avoid further escalation, it is essential to incorporate the actual evolution of the wolf population and data which are not outdated into the revision and adaptation of the existing would therefore like to ask the which Member States and in which biogeographical regions has a favourable conservation status been identified, and how many wolves were there in the region concerned?
