Forms are also available at the PROBATE Courts. 2018 PROBATE COURT Administrator, State of Connecticut INTRODUCTION A family member or other concerned person who believes that a loved one is unable to care for himself or herself may petition the PROBATE COURT to establish a conservatorship for the individual. The COURT will follow careful procedures to protect the rights of the individual while determining whether the individual is capable of making decisions about personal and medical care and managing his or her finances. If the COURT concludes that the individual is not capable, it will appoint an appropriate person to serve as conservator and will oversee the conservator s activities on an ongoing basis.
