A computational mesh is then inserted into the domain this mesh divides the region where flow travels into many control volumes, or cells. It is not uncommon for a CFD model to contain millions of these cells. The software then solves the equations of fluid motion (Conservation of Mass, Momentum, and Energy) in every one of these cells. The results are plotted as color contours to depict the flow parameters at any location within the domain.
