FACT SHEETT emporary AssistanceWhat is Temporary Assistance ? Temporary Assistance , also known as Public Assistance , is cash Assistance for needy adults who cannot find a job, are unable to work, or do not earn enough at their jobs to pay for their basic needs, as well as for needy children. For adults, Temporary Assistance is intended to provide short-term help as individuals seek work, participate in training or treatment necessary to enable work, or obtain disability benefits. The two primary Temporary Assistance programs are Family Assistance and Safety Net Assistance . These programs provide the same level of Assistance to a household, but serve different populations and have some different rules.
