Today, with over 285,000 students spread among 10 campuses, UC is still committed to its mission of research, education and public service. UC has built an international reputation of academic excellence and is committed to expanding the horizons of high-achieving, talented students while embracing racial, geographic and socioeconomic diversity. More than one-third of our undergraduates come from low-income families, and 40 percent are the first in their families to attend college. And we see that they earn their degrees in a timely fashion, with special academic and financial aid programs.
Gaining admission to the UC system requires focused — and . early — preparation. Putting students on the right path will . help them avoid surprises later. Because admission to many UC campuses is extremely competitive, students should strive to fulfill our minimum admission requirements and, in many cases, exceed them by large margins.
