Slavery. Civil War. Segregation. We ve even elected a black man to the highest office in the land. But as tempting as it might be to celebrate these things as signs we ve entered into a period of color-blind, post-racial [VIDEO CLIP] CNN Pundit: We have to admit that we re moving forward in this world and that race issues are moving to the periphery. Robert Byrd: I think those problems are largely behind us. Wise: The fact is that racial inequalities still [INTERVIEW] Michelle Alexander: Today there are more African Americans in prison or jail, on probation or parole, than were enslaved in 1850, a decade before the Civil War began.
