Although this Action plan comes as Scotland and other nations take immediate Action to protect lives in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) health pandemic, the effects of climate change have not gone away.
Transport emissions . Rail is already a very low carbon form of transport for passengers and freight and in 2017 1rail accounted for just 1.2% of all transport emissions in Scotland and between 2012 and 2018 (UK) emissions per passenger kilometre fell by 24% for rail compared to 8% for petrol cars, 4% for diesel cars and 10% for buses.
