Randomized Trials are epidemiological studies in which a direct comparison is made between two or more treatment groups, one of which serves as a control for the other. Study subjects are randomly allocated into the differing treatment groups, and all groups are followed over time to observe the effect of the different treatments. The control group may either be untreated (placebo- Controlled ) or undergo a gold standard established regimen against which the new regimen will be assessed (active- Controlled ).
