Recommendation 3 ISO COUNTRY CODEfor Representation of Names of CountriesThe Working Party on Facilitation of International TradeProcedures,Being aware of the need of an internationally agreed codesystem to represent names of countries,Considering the International Standard ISO 3166 Codesfor the representation of names of countries as a suitablebasis for application in international trade,Recommends that the two-letter alphabetic code referredto in the International Standard ISO 3166 as ISO AL-PHA-2 COUNTRY code , should be used for representingthe names of countries for purposes of International Tradewhenever there is a need for a coded alphabetical desig-nation;Invites the secretariat to inform the appropriate ISO bodyresponsible for the maintenance of ISO 3166 of anyamendments which the Working Party may that session representatives attended from: Austria;Belgium; Bulgaria; Canada; Czechoslovakia; Denmark;Finland; France; German Democratic Republic; Ger-many, Federal Republic of; Hungary; Italy; Netherlands;Norway; Poland; Romania; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland.
