In practice, anystructure containing wood isexposed to possible subterraneantermite invasion unless protectivemeasures are taken. Termites will often damagematerials they cannot digest suchas plastics, rubber, metal or , this damage occurs whenthe indigestible items areencountered in the termites' search for food.
