(Created 10/12) UNL Environmental Health and SAFETY (402) 472-4925 Safe Operating Procedure (Revised 8/15) GENERAL MACHINE SAFETY _____ This SOP is intended to provide GENERAL SAFETY guidance for power-driven (including manually operated) stationary machines and equipment used to shape and/or form metal, wood, or other materials by cutting, impact, pressure, electrical or other processing techniques. These types of machines present a number of potential hazards, which must be recognized and controlled to minimize the risk of operator injury. Hand and portable powered tools are beyond the scope of this SOP. Relevant Standards Following are common, recognized standards for safe MACHINE operation.
