A sampler for complex-valued signals is a system SamplerT:[Reals !Complex]![Integers !Complex]; (11.1) where T is the sampling interval (it has units of seconds/sample). The system is depicted in figure 11.1. The sampling frequency or sample rate is fs = 1=T, in units of samples/second (or sometimes, Hertz), or ws =2p=T, in units radians/second.
