We also looked at BIM technology for Structural engineers in general in the overview of the BIM Fundamentals Seminar for Structural Engineers in 2007, which provided an opportunity to understand the BIM phenomenon from a Structural engineering point of view. At that time, Nemetschek's Scia Engineer was not mentioned at all, and even today, it is largely unknown in the US, despite being an established 3D Structural Design and Analysis tool in Europe, where it originated.
Scia Engineer is available in three editions. TheConcept Edition is a basic version aimed at engineers who are modeling and analyzing common structures made of steel, concrete, or another material.
