Cold Fingers: Raynaud's Phenomenon In the last Chapter we introduced Raynaud's (pronounced RAY -KNOWDS). Phenomenon (see figure on next page). When someone has Raynaud's phenomenon their fingertips change color when exposed to cold temperatures. In general, an attack starts with the fingertips getting very pale, becoming numb and then turning purple or blue.
