SOUTH AFRICA'S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE ROME STATUTE OF THE international . criminal court . On 19 October 2O16 Cabinet took the decision that SOUTH Africa will withdraw from the Rome Statute by immediately submitting the lnstrument of WITHDRAWAL to the Secretary- General of the United Nations. ln accordance with Article 127 of the Rome Statute regarding WITHDRAWAL , "A State Party may, by written notification addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, withdraw from this Statute. The WITHDRAWAL shall take effect one year after the date of receipt of the notification, unless the notification specifies a later date", SOUTH AFRICA'S WITHDRAWAL will accordingly be effective after one year.
