May 01, 2017 · Merlin was a gas generator cycle engine that used a pintle style injector, an injector design ad from the Apollo Lunar Module engine. Turbopump exhaust provided roll control. The eng had an ablatively cooled thrust chamber and nozzle. Kestrel, which also used a pintle injector, was a pressure fed design.
