Standard flow rate VS. Volumetric flow rate Application NOTE FLOW-004 December 2001 This Application note applies to all TSI flowmeters. TSI flowmeters are considered mass flowmeters and indicate flow rate TSIs with reference to a set of Standard conditions. For TSI instruments, Standard conditions are defined as C (70 F) and kPa ( psia). Other manufacturers may use different values. Standard flow rate is the equivalent flow rate the gas would be moving if the temperature and pressure were at Standard conditions. It is usually the most useful measure of gas flow because it defines the mass flow, number of molecules, and heat-carrying capacity of the gas.
