Storage Basics Each Storage technology has its advantages and disadvantages, so review its durability, dependability, speed, capacity, and cost before buying. Storage Basics - Durability Durability is the resistance to damage from handling and environmental factors such as dust, humidity, heat, and cold. Can be measured in lifespan or in write cycles (the number of times data can be written and revised).

Storage medium – the hard drives, CDs, DVDs, flash drives, solid state drives, and memory cards that contains data. Storage device – the mechanical apparatus that records and retrieves data from a storage medium.
