For purposes of sudden pressure relay applications, transformers can be classified into two general groups, dry type or liquid filled. The dry type transformers are non-ventilated and use air, nitrogen, or another inert gas for the insulating and cooling media. Gas flow may be circulated naturally, forced, or maintained at zero gauge pressure.
