1 Summary of Senate Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act ( 3684) August 10, 2021 On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, the Senate approved the roughly $1 trillion 3684 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs (IIJA) Act. The bill passed with strong bipartisan support by a vote of 69-30. The bill includes the surface transportation reauthorization slated to expire at the end of September 2021. IIJA includes $550 billion in new federal Investment , of which about $274 billion would go to the Department of transportation (DOT). Of that amount, $110 billion would be allocated for roads, bridges, and other major projects, $66 billion would be reserved for passenger rail and freight, and more than $39 billion for public transit.
