Introduction ONBOARDING , also known as organizational socialization, refers to the process through which new employees acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to become effective members of an organization early in their respective jobs. ONBOARDING is the bridge between selection and productivity, including activities from pre-arrival through the end of the first year. ONBOARDING : Complements entrance-on-duty process (EOD).
A comprehensive onboarding process fosters positive working relationships that help new employees gain confidence and become productive quickly. It also ensures their successful integration in the organization’s culture. Successful onboarding can minimize attrition rates, and develop and sustain an effective workforce.
