As the Fund was no longer subject to the Department of Labour legislation, it was compelled to register in terms of the MEDICAL Schemes Act 131 of 1998 and was subsequently registered as a restricted MEDICAL aid fund, known as The BUILDING and CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY MEDICAL Aid Fund (BCIMA).
