The Davidic TimelineI personally do not feel qualified to set this or that date for the milestones of David s life. However, I believethat it is important to have a rough idea of when this or that event took place. It is reasonable to assume thatmost of Samuel is chronological, and Chronicles is as well, but less so. All verses which help to determinewhen this or that occurred have been included in the Narrative section. The dates of GerritVerkuyl, the editor of the Modern Language Bible (the New Berkeley Version in Modern English) have beenrecently added because, unlike the other sources, he recognizes that the final chapters of 2 Samuel are not inchronological order. The Bible Truth 4U dates are all in parentheses now.

Gerrit Verkuyl (the New Berkeley Bible) recognizes that this battle (these battles) occurred much earlier—however, the clear text of the Bible places these battles after the taking of Rabbah (which conflicts with Verkuyl’s dating).
