FORM 103 THE PROFESSIONAL BOARD FOR PSYCHOLOGY THE HEALTH professions council OF SOUTH AFRICA CRITERIA FOR THE TRAINING AND FOR THE accreditation OF INSTITUTIONS OFFERING TRAINING OF INTERN-PSYCHOLOGISTS 1. MAIN PRINCIPLES In the training of intern-psychologists the following main principles must be adhered to: A. The Training Institution Training can only be recognised if it takes place in an approved institution on a full-time basis (40 hours per week) over a minimum period of one year. B. Duties of the Training Institution Proper supervision of the intern's work is essential and must take place in the context of a multi- PROFESSIONAL team in which the interns are fully integrated. The supervision of interns must take place under the direct control of at least one full-time, registered psychologist who has been registered for at least three years.
