New Testament Prophets V. Conclusion 2 INTRODUCTION The office and MINISTRY of the Prophet continues to be as unpopular today as it was in the Old Testament. Even today Prophets are not always considered as necessary and valued MINISTRY . Even in Old Testament times Prophets were requested to go and minister elsewhere as it was considered by some that they were making a nuisance of themselves. (Amos 7:10-13) The Bible teaches that the Office of a Prophet is one of the five-fold ministries.
The gift of speaking in unknown tongues is therefore an important sign showing that the believer has received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. The Apostle Paul spoke in tongues often. 1Co 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: Jude encouraged all believers to build up the inner man by speaking in tongues.
